Jessica Jones Season 2 Trailer: Thoughts

Jessica Jones is back! I was a little concerned about JJ returning because she had literally killed her biggest internal conflicts. Her abuser. I thought the show was going to portray her as having completely resolved her mental health issues on being abused since Kilgrave had been taken care of, which is *not* how mental health works. Since JJ season one was so great at exploring themes of abuse recovery I would have been sad to see them drop such an important topic for viewers in season two. However, it has been announced that David Tennant will be returning as Kilgrave for season 2! It is unlikely that he will be returning as a live character, given his death and more likely that he will be returning as a haunt (flashback) character. This is amazing news as trauma is such an integral part of who Jessica Jones is and it will be amazing to watch her struggle and gain new strengths as she deals with her mental health. I adore having a character I can relate to on this level. Especially about a topic that often gets ignored or even fetishized on screen.

As for what I noted in the trailer itself, it seems that although they are adding more action this season for Jessica Jones which I found to be a common complaint for those who struggled with enjoying JJ season 1. I myself am not a big action fan, but if it get's more people to watch my girl... I am all for it! I hope they keep that Private Investigator angle though, and continue with some of those classic "detective" elements with a modern twist like they did for season 1, after all, Jessica is a highly internalized character and I would hate to see her thoughts overshadowed.

It seems as though the focus of season two will be Jessica trying to figure out what was done to her in her past. I am guessing, what was done to make her super human. Which, from what we are aware of, is something she came into *after* she got into the car accident that killed her family. But perhaps she was super before then considering that she had survived the crash. We don't know! But perhaps that is what this season will shed light on. The other issue Jessica seems to face is the police. She is no stranger with run in's with the police but here she seems highly concerned -guilty even. So this police exchange will be very different from the kinds we are used to with her. The police will likely be a huge obstacle this season.

Jessica, our girl, has a new lover this season as well! Or maybe he is just a casual thing. We won't know until we see. As much as I am DYING for JJ and my delicious man Luke to finally be together, Jessica Jones is a modern woman in modern times and I love to see her getting out there and getting action!
