Personal- Poetry

This is one of those personal blog posts that I have been avoiding like the plague. Don't get me wrong, I have always wanted to come to this point of openness towards the world. But here is a vulnerable place in a world, especially the world of female figure on the internet when people expect you to be their ideal and not the actual you.

However, I find myself ready and I have finally, after years of hiding it away, have made available my poetry to the world. The goal is to finally publish a book that will include my art and poetry and feature art by my oldest friend as well. Until then I have been posting it where you all can see. Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook.

This is a huge step for me, to share has always been my greatest fear. I always felt, inadequate. I always felt like criticism of my work was the worst possible thing that could happen to me. But now I love my work wholeheartedly. I have been inspired by my own emotions, my own journey. And while people can critique away using their own experiences, preferences, and supposed rules of writing and literature; it has nothing to do with me. My poetry is perfect because it is me and couldn't possibly be wrong. It is reflective of a time, situation and some times my poetry transcends many of my experiences and can be applied to a general theme of my life. I don't expect everyone to identify or understand, but I hold a special place for those who do. Thank you, towards all that have encouraged me, who read my writing. All I have ever wanted to be was a writer and now I am making those steps.
